Suspension systems comprise of several components. The main ones being springs and shock absorbers. But there are also bushes, shackles, anti-sway bars, links and spacers.
The main types of springs are coil, leaf, torsion bars and air springs. They all have their own advantages and disadvantages.
provide excellent articulation for off road performance but sag under heavy load.
are particularly suited to load carrying but not usually as comfortable as other springs and lack articulation.
are durable and can be easily adjusted in small amounts to alter ride height.
